The Textile Sector Will Have to Shift to Renewable Energy Sources
Naya Daur Urdu reported on a seminar organized by ADS at Faisalabad's National Textile University, where a new research report was launched examining Pakistan's textile sector's carbon emissions, energy use patterns, and opportunities to shift toward renewable energy. Former FESCO CEO Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed and other speakers advocated solar and wind energy solutions for the industry.
Key Points
- 1Dr. Yasir Nawab warned that European purchases of Pakistani textile products are declining because the industry does not use clean and green energy, and that the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism will further hurt exports.
- 2Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed, former CEO of FESCO, said Pakistan must ultimately shift toward wind and solar power.
