Advocacy & Campaigning
Building public and industry support for Pakistan's renewable energy transition
ADS is dedicated to promoting sustainable development, currently focusing on industrial decarbonization of the sports, textile, and food and beverage sectors in Pakistan to transition to renewable energy. Our approach begins with comprehensive studies of these industries to understand their unique challenges and opportunities. We engage directly with industrialists by hosting study launches that highlight the growth potential and benefits of decarbonization. Through seminars, public rallies, and events like the smog awareness walk held in Multan in December 2023, we bring attention to critical environmental issues. Our advocacy efforts extend to various media platforms, including radio, TV, and social media. We produce and disseminate media content such as explainers, documentaries, public service messages, and podcast programs to effectively spread our message. Our goal is to convince key sectors to embrace renewable energy, thereby fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Pakistan. This is how ADS drives advocacy and campaigning to achieve meaningful change.

Capacity Development
Building capacity for human rights advocacy and development
ADS is an advocate for human rights, emphasizing the importance of respecting, protecting, fulfilling, and promoting a wide range of rights and covenants. We call on institutions, especially state departments and ministries, to uphold these principles as demanded by the general public and civil society. The role of NGOs and regional institutions is crucial in assessing abuses and advocating for human rights. ADS recognizes the contemporary significance of human rights, often seen as synonymous with human development. The roles of NGOs, civil society, and the media are vital in promoting social change and development. Human rights have become a universal language for peace, equality, social justice, and economic development. To promote and advocate for human rights, ADS builds the capacity of development players through trainings, seminars, media workshops, policy briefs, and evidence-based research. We ensure that human rights activists understand fundamental concepts, covenants, conventions, and the United Nations' mechanisms, including periodic reporting requirements and the roles of national commissions on human, women, child, and minority rights. ADS ensures that its development partners have an interdisciplinary understanding of human rights and development. We build the capacity of civil society organizations to help them grasp advanced theories and practices, enabling them to effectively address and navigate the complexities of human rights issues.
